With a low budget and lots of personal engagement the former building of the voluntary fire brigade and Spechtshorn's cold house the history of crude oil drilling in this region has been opened to the interested public.

With the help of photos, original documents and a great number of equipment and implements oil drilling is being described in detail in the time from 1951 to 1997.
Especially the first drilling 'Hohne 1' from the year 1951, is being extensively documented.

Technical innovations and individual equipment is being explained and slides and videos are available to illustrate these procedures.

This region is after all one of Germany's largest crude oil development area. 77 drilling resulted in 65 successful produced crude oil finds.

The compiling of exhibits was done in cooperation with the DEA, which likes to resort itself to the Spechtshorn equipment.

For the future a CD-ROM is planed so visitors have the chance to take information home.
